Position Summary

Ali Smash & Mechanical Repairs is seeking qualified and experienced Automotive Panel Beaters and Spray Painters to carry out high-quality body repairs and refinishing on a wide range of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, remove, and repair damaged body panels using welding, filling, and panel-beating tools in line with Australian industry standards.
  • Operate chassis alignment and measuring equipment to restore vehicles to manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare vehicles for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and applying primers.
  • Mix and apply water-based automotive paints and clear coats using compliant spray booth equipment.
  • Polish, buff, and inspect finished surfaces to ensure a high-quality, factory-level finish.
  • Maintain all tools, spray equipment, and workshop areas in clean, safe, and WHS-compliant condition.
  • Follow documented safe work procedures, chemical handling guidelines, and manual handling techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with estimators, team members, and supervisors to meet turnaround times and quality standards.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years full-time relevant experience (post-qualification).
  • Trade qualification such as Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology (AUR32120) or Automotive Refinishing Technology (AUR32420) or Equivalent.
  • Proficient in use of modern panel-beating or spray-painting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and repair specifications.
  • High attention to detail, time management, and quality assurance.
  • Good verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must be available to work full-time (38 hours/week) and on-site.
  • Applicants with Australian work rights are preferred. Employer sponsorship may be considered for highly experienced overseas candidates.
  • I-CAR certification, welding certifications or training in chassis measuring systems.
  • Familiarity with insurance repair systems and digital job management software.
  • Australian Drivers Licence preferred.
  • Full-time, permanent position with a minimum of 38 hours per week.
